Dharma Achaarya Pandit Dinanauth Paltan Tiwari was born on March 11, 1929 in Philadelphia, Guyana. He was the youngest son of Pandit Paltan Maraj Tiwari and Shrimattie Ramdularie Tiwari and the youngest brother of Pandits Balgobin and Tulsie Tiwari. Both of Guruji's paternal and maternal relatives were all Brahmin Priests to include the reputed Pandit Nowbat Tiwari. At age 21, Guruji married Shrimattie Kamlamati Tiwari, the daughter of Pandit Nanan and Shrimattie Ramkumarie Tiwari.
Our belated Dharma Achaarya started practising Karam Kand Panditai after christening to our Kul Guru, Dharmacharya Pandit Shankar Prasad. During his quest, Guruji obtained several certificates in Sanskrit and Hindi from the Guyana Hindu Pandits council and was a certified Hindu priest. In addition, he was a prominent member of the Guyana Maha Sabha. Guruji was the officiating priest at the La Penitence Mandir, Albouystown Mandir, and Houston Mandir. During his tenure, he hosted several Sunday Morning Religious Radio Broadcast Programs and performed all forms of Vedic rituals (Pujas, Yagyas, and Samskaras).
After migrating with his family to the USA in 1983, he settled in Maryland. During his life, he performed Hindu rituals all over the US and Canada and continued to touch the lives of all devotees, especially his God children. In 1996, Guruji was bestowed the honor of Dharmacharya by Pandits from Maryland, New York, and Florida. In his quest to disseminate the philosophies of Hinduism, our Guruji became the founding priest of the Hindu Dharmic Sabha of the Washington Metropolitan Area and our current Shri Gopal Mandir.
In his humility, Guruji claimed that he had no education, but before judging, one would have to listen to his words of wisdom to assess this. Only a true believer of God could be this humble.
Our beloved Guruji passed away on the afternoon of November 22, 2005 at his home. His legacy is survived by his family, the members of and the Shri Gopal Mandir.
